-Mr. Farmer and Nancy will be visiting schools regularly. Please notify them if you wish for them to visit your school.
-Building reps MUST send monthly reports. Include any needs of the building.
-2-3 grievances have been filed since September
-Often the district desires to work things out before arbitration. Two out of three are usually settled before arbitration.
Comment: Cooper- a matrix should be created to lay out a plan explaining who to go to first before going to administration. Many things can be handled in-house. This may diminish the number of grievances filed.
-As addressed in the newsletter, build a relationship with your administration.
Example: Zahn has scheduled weekly meetings with the new principal in his building. It appears to be very productive.
Attendance: Possibly instituting electronic attendance in the future. Cameras may be installed in buildings around February. There is an attendance problem with staff. Increment with holdings will continue even during the grievance process.
Open Enrollment: Overall, the members were not pleased with the process.
Comments: Kennedy- Many were concerned about our personal information being shared with an outside contracted agency.
Clark- As individuals, we should have been honored by the district with respecting our confidentiality agreement.
Response: Farmer and Blake- The information is supposed to be erased after 30 days. They were contracted out by the district. They cannot sell our information.
Question: Kennedy -Is our deduction made pre or post tax?
Response: Cooper- We have always had the option. Thankfully they made it aware to many of our members that weren’t aware of the option.
Question: What about terminal illnesses?
Response: Clark- It’s a case by case determination. I cannot speak on it any more until everything is finalized.
